I was cleaning my room yesterday, when I found this red box that I haven’t seen in quite a while. Naturally, I opened it. And there it was— a pendant. A sakura pendant.
It was a gift from someone who used to be so precious to me. It was a gift given on our first year anniversary. He said this to me at the time, “Remember, we’ll be together until we’re old and wrinkly. I promise.” I always laugh to myself every time I remember that line now. Oh my, how naive we used to be, thinking that we could conquer a forever.
He was the very first person I ever loved so much. And that makes it such a shame, to have experienced how the hottest love always has the coldest ending. When our bond was cut, I tried to give him back all of his presents, including this pendant. But even with the horrible situation between us at the moment, he refused to accept it. He wanted me to keep it. As a memory of us, for you to remember, he said.
So yeah, I kept it.
For what once was.
